RICHARD COSFORD
SEND CONSULTANCY
INNOVATIVE SEND GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT FOR SCHOOLS AND LOCAL AUTHORITIES
With a wealth of experience of implementing and leading SEND provisions, I am committed to supporting educational settings to create nurturing and inclusive learning environments that benefit every student.

Schools and local authorities face growing challenges in meeting the needs of increasing numbers of students with SEND, including students with EHCPs, with practical and innovative ideas and solutions being sought. Many schools have already developed their own SEND curriculum provisions, either in part or fully, to address these rising demands and challenges. A fresh approach can foster further growth in developing new ideas and perspectives, which can lead to the growth and success of the provision.

Drawing on 35 years of secondary SEND teaching experience in both mainstream and special school environments, I have gained significant expertise as a SENCO, SLT, and Head of the largest Autism Resource Base in the country. I have also developed a significant range of other proactive provision models to meet SEND needs.

This extensive experience has given me a deep understanding of the processes involved in determining initial ideas, developing practical solutions to overcome challenges and barriers, and ensuring the successful evolution and evaluation of SEND provisions. I have developed considerable expertise to advise, guide and support educational settings looking to further develop their own individual SEND provision.
